Mouth tape is a simple yet effective device designed to promote nasal breathing by gently securing the mouth closed during sleep. The tape encourages you to breathe through your nose, which can lead to better sleep quality and overall health by optimizing airflow and oxygen intake.
-
Nasal breathing is vital for maintaining healthy sleep for several reasons:
It enhances oxygenation by improving air filtration and increasing nitric oxide production, which helps to expand the blood vessels.
It leads to better regulation of breathing patterns, reducing snoring and the risk of sleep apnea.
It supports optimal CO2 levels, contributing to a more stable and restful sleep
-
The benefits of using mouth tape include:
Reduced snoring and minimized sleep disturbances.
Prevention of dry mouth, which promotes better oral hygiene.
Enhanced sleep quality through improved breathing patterns.
-
Yes, mouth tape can help reduce snoring. By encouraging nasal breathing, it ensures a smoother airflow, which minimizes the vibrations in the throat that cause snoring. This can result in a quieter and more peaceful sleep environment for both the user and their partner.

This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical disease or condition. Please contact your physician for medical advice related to Flow Mouth Tape.
-
Mouth taping is generally safe for most people. However, this product is not recommended for children under the age of 6, those with breathing disorders, heart conditions, nasal congestion, risk of vomiting or with the use of alcohol or sedatives and those unable to remove the tape on their own. Anybody with severe respiratory conditions or nasal congestion should consult a healthcare provider before use. It's important to ensure clear nasal passages for adequate airflow during sleep.
-
Applying and removing mouth tape is straightforward:
Ensure your skin is clean and dry around the lips.
Place the tape securely across your lips to prevent it from coming loose during the night, but ensure it's comfortable and not overly tight.
In the morning, gently peel the tape off, starting from one corner.
-
For those with facial hair, it's important to ensure the tape adheres well:
Clean and dry the area around the mouth thoroughly.
Turn the tape ninety degrees to ensure maximum tape contact across lips
Apply the tape firmly to ensure it stays in place throughout the night.
-
Mouth tape complements other sleep hygiene practices like maintaining a regular sleep schedule, optimizing your sleep environment, and avoiding stimulants before bedtime. It's a beneficial addition that supports overall sleep quality by ensuring effective nasal breathing throughout the night.
-
Breathe Free Labs' mouth tape is distinguished by its skin-friendly adhesive and specially designed shape, which together ensure both maximum comfort and secure adherence throughout the night. This combination makes it uniquely effective compared to other mouth tapes available on the market.
-
The tape is made of 95% cotton and 5% rayon, allowing the tape to stretch and reliably adhere to your mouth while staying comfortable and hypoallergenic. The adhesive is made of glue designed specifically for medical applications and is safe for the skin, easy to remove, and hypoallergenic.

We designed our Flow Mouth Tape to stick all night long but easily come off in the morning, which is not an easy balance to strike! Sometimes, it can come off in the middle of the night. But don’t fret!
Make sure your lips and mouth area are clean and dry when you apply the tape.
If you have a beard (like one of our co-founders), try turning the tape 90 degrees so that it is applied along the length of your lips instead of across it.
Make sure that there is no slack in the tape when you relax your lips after applying. It should lightly press your lips together (though it should not be too tight!). If you can force air out of the sides of your mouth, that’s ok! That should be the case.
Try again! Some people find that they inadvertently remove the mouth in their sleep the first few nights they try it. If this applies to you, try using it a few more times. Your brain should get used to it and you should find that you don’t inadvertently remove it in your sleep anymore. If you still find yourself removing it after five nights, reach out to us at hello@breathefreelabs.com, and we’ll be happy to assist you with returning your Flow Mouth Tape for a full refund.
